I am not sure about SL sculptures. I don't think I would ever want to spend time in SL editing objects. Unless there was something else beyond that too.

Have your building skills improved Miranda, during the recent project? Hmm, a little, I didn't worry so much about the look of things, just clumped them together to look a bit like bad sculptures, I've learnt a bit about scripts you can add to do things, still a long way to go though This is what I'm talking about, I haven't put up the rest of the photos yet artstalking.blogspot.com/2010/01/slesp.html

were you intending that the 'sculptures' would have a function beyond making them and leaving them?

I am not sure about SL sculptures. I don't think I would ever want to spend time in SL editing objects. Unless there was something else beyond that too. I'm not so interested in that either, I just wondered if it'd be a starting point for people to use for gatherings. The objects could be turned into walls of something you pass through and meet with others in etc. The thing about doing things in SL is it's only interesting when you get people together, and then you have to avoid being distracted by the trappings of avatars, flying etc

I probably agree with Bonus that I would only be interested in making something in SL if the Geodecian avatars needed it for some reason.

I'm not really interested in SL as a space for building things.
I could probably just stretch to going in and re-editing my avatar and doing some kind of group performance.
This is just another thing where the pay off for putting in the effort to learn doesn't seem worth it to me... like learning to play guitar

I guess that the + of having the land is that things we can build will remain. However I feel a social space is what it needed, but in SL anywhere can become a social space, so long as there is a group there chatting. Is SL chat then more interesting than on this forum or on skype, chat room etc ? I kind of think it is, I like the visual component and the ability to show each other things...

Is it worth meeting on the Geodecian land at some point soon?

were you intending that the 'sculptures' would have a function beyond making them and leaving them? I'm assuming you're talking about the Geodecity thing I suggested, rather than the other project I was doing, I might not have made it clear that what I was imagining was a constantly changing space, and what might be interesting would be the interaction between us through the objects if we couldn't be there at the same time - they'd become like messages to each other

If we build things and leave them on the land - this could have other benefits to us:
Inform people about TGP Potentially find new Geodecians through SL Make money in SL - if we were selling something -- any others?

I think my main interest in SL is trying to engage with its actual residents - i.e. the people who actually do stuff there for fun - who are these people?

I guess the learning thing depends on whether you enjoy it. From my very limited knowlege of building things in SL I find it frustrating and not enjoyable so I would say I would not want to focus on building things there. I would rather there was a group of Geo's who were into building stuff and wanted to do that in line with what the group decided or that the project got other people to make things we needed. However in SL I am not sure why people are so keen on having all this stuff anyway?

If we left something there do you think other SL residents would contact us because of it?
