I like the umpire, having a megaphone to announce scores could also draw attention to the community

But the wiki (if we want it to grow and be informative) require a certain amount of dedicated time to keep it up to date...

A challenge / target for the game would give the game more pourpose but with out making it too competative between players. You could also have an umpire who keeps count of ball (and possibly pig) completed hits or catches. I think someone who keep a record of how many times each person has fumbled the mini-pig would be interesting. Makes the mini-pig more important than just a distraction. I'd keep this scoring individual – whereas the beachball scoring is for the group

in relation to bonus's question about the event proposal,
i think its good that you are proposing that the geodecian community carry on staging events, but this way of small number of people directing events, is maybe a weakness in the project, and contributing to why the project isnt as successful as it could be.
maybe the event proposal should have been posted on the wiki befoehand? as a way of seeing if other geodecians were intrested in the proposal before it was submitted?
im trying to find ways in which the rest of the geodecian community could feel more involved in the communities devlopment process, in an effort to increase engagment.

I'm in I think although I haven't actually checked the date yet which is the only deciding factor, and to that and the minipig, no long distance commuting lol - travel's nice but has dented my rent money

Bonus: That could be interesting, as it will still keep the team together, but then there will be more of a decision involved with who to through the pig to

It is a good point about trying to involve more people in taking decisions

A community outing might work, going and visiting something specific that we were all interested in...
We also briefly discussed a gathering around a Geodecians house, and maybe watching video material of Geodecities past? But now that feels a little odd now we are more looking to the future...Something happening at somebodies house may still work though.

Ideally it would have. But there was very little time before the deadline.

The Event proposal was written in a couple of days - as we only found about it a couple of days before the deadline, and from experience adding things to the wiki hasn't received quick responses - ideally we would have discussed it at this forum
