I guess indoor, as it hasn't been done, but would it present difficulties with finding somewhere? I think they would be fine to find us somewhere.

Develop the community I guess?? And I suppose signing up new Geodecians isn't a priority, maybe only those really keen to join could be signed up? What would an outpost indoor or outdoor aim to do in Mannheim? How would an audience engage with it? If the audience became Geodecian how would the physical distance effect their continued involvement? Other new Geodecians that joined at the summer retreat have not come back for more even thought they were followed up?

Is there a new type of membership we could create that makes people who only join in 'on location' don't leave us feeling like they might be back after and join in for the long term?
In a way I guess it is a numbers game, the more we hit the more chance some people will join in on a more regular basis
Do we just have to accept that Geodecians come and go as the project moves though town and try not to expect others with join the commited core driving the project into the ground, err I mean forward.

I think a different approach to gaining members is good, or different expectations as you say

Perhaps being a Geodecian isn't about how much you continue with the project, but about how it changes you.
Perhaps people in other cities could have their own meetings and projects after the 'core' group leaves town

What needs developing about this community? I would say the group that are online now are already pretty tight, well as Geodecians go
Perhaps we need to define some clearer goals. The discussion at the summer retreat about what the core concern of the geodecity project should be just seemed to falter without throwing up many interesting options.

Maybe it doesn't matter if you find new Geodecians, if a group goes to Mannheim and develops the project (and maybe awareness of it) maybe that is OK?

Sounds like a plan, though it's a good challenge

Could one of our core goals be to develop an idea to go to Mannheim with, that we as a group are interested in - one step at a time - and then use that as an opportunity to take it further/

I think that while the online presence the project has is all useful as an archive of discussions that have taken place, the problem for me is that it is all about discussion rather than conversation.
The distinction I am making is between discussion, which is contained by its topic
and conversation, which is more open and fluid
I think what the project lacks is a more conversational space, possibly just a separate area on the forum where people could spawn threads relating to things they are interested in, which would then be free to mutate into other things

Seems a good starting point

So the people of Mannheim are invited to join the Geodecity project while it is in town and will gain a life changing experience in return for their participation in the Geodecian way of life. Through a series of gatherings, workshops and excursions, Geodecians try to find the core concern of the project whilst at the same time finding out more about themselves. "The Geodecity Project: Clear and Open It will change you (for the better)"
