I think there has been too much emphasis on attracting new members, something I am guilty of, but I think it has distracted from building the community. So I would be keep to develop internally rather than expanding. I think if we're seen to be an engaged and active group people will naturally want to join

Well I'm interested in doing stuff in Second Life, haven't had time to do much there yet, but once my friend has got her name set up we'll try building things Would it be a good idea to set up an informal meeting in SL so that anyone interested could meet up there and talk about how we might do things in that space? At the DCA, it felt a bit like we were trying to pimp the project out - grab as many members as possible, none of which will probably come back. This doesn't really do anything towards developing the project, just more cooks to spoil the broth?

One of the problems with the project is as you have admitted that the Geodecians dont have 'the answer', it is there to be found. Maybe the Geodecians need to claim to have 'the answer.'

Yahoo: How do you see we could engage the pool of less involved Geodecians in order focus on community building, working with what we have got, as apposed to finding more people?

I was wondering if perhaps we shouldn't worry too much about 'the answer' and instead think about things we'd be interested in actually doing with the project.

Based on what we thought was the success of the DCA event, we have proposed to do something similar at The Event in Birmingham. This proposal was uploaded to the wiki and we thought this might be a template for more regular get-togethers for groups of Geodecians...

This is a good point Miranda. How do we promote ourselves to demonstrate this?

if you have a lot of cooks, you need a chef to keep them all in check?

One issue that occurred to me with Second Life was that you can only have one account validated with your credit card, so if you have another account it'd be tricky to pay for any land or uploading textures so you could have your name on your tabard. Not sure if you can gift money to yourself, i guess you could work round it somehow.
